NC State student Joseph Carnevale, the artist behind the Traffic Barrel Monster, has been arrested for stealing the barrels and "cutting and screwing them together to make a statue," which apparently is a misdemeanor in North Carolina. Carnevale goes by the name uliveuburn. It didn't take the local police long to decide the 21-year-old is to blame. The total cost of the damage has been estimated at $360 and a court case is scheduled for July 21st.

Daniel Ramos, AKA Chaka, was 18 when he was arrested and charged in 1991 with 48 counts of vandalism, trespassing and causing
$500,000 in property damage. Chaka’s signature tag had appeared in a staggering 10,000 locations from Orange County to San Francisco. At the height of his notoriety Chaka was demonized by mainstream media and culture as being little more than a prolific vandal. At the same time he was celebrated by street artists who admired the ability of a teenager from the projects to literally make his mark on the vast. He is credited with breaking away from the New York “wildstyle” popular at the time and introducing clearer, more blockish lettering into tagging. Chaka was one of the first to create a reputation as a recognizable individual tagger, and spawned many imitators.

Dark Americana is a survey of 20 artist's concerns and responses to America's current and historical state of affairs. In these artifacts of unique perspectives, we find an undercurrent of skepticism and criticism of cultural identity. Although the artists in this exhibition are not unlike the Americans who feel a sense of hope for the future and frustration for the past, Dark Americana offers an opportunity to reflect on our nation's complex issues of politics, economics, war, race, technology, homelessness, homophobia, a romanticized Hollywood, inflated consumer markets, our utopian forefathers and religious fundamentalism. With the recent changes in political leadership, Americans are reminded of a strong sense of responsibility towards American citizenship. Dark Americana helps us remember the past, come to terms with the present and prepare for the future.

They played union hall, the conan show, mercury lounge and an acoustic set over at rolling stone. First off I gotta say this showed ruled. If you missed the opening on Friday the 13th then you have to get into Solid One Gallery and check it out. 13 artist were asked to be in the show and somehow we were one of them. Each artist was given a primered grey coffin to work with. What evolved from each was completely unexpected on my part. I was blown away when i walked in and took a look at everything. I only posted a few pictures to give you a taste of whats going on. With this kind of stuff you have to see it in person. Cruise into the shop if you get a chance, all the guys that run it are mad cool which was also another reason why the show was soo dope...good vibes. They are located at 334 N. Fairfax Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90036...

The Reaper, The Keeper, Rzarector, and The Undertaker

Gravediggaz in my opinion is the most underrated hip hop act and one of the greatest. The dark supergroup was formed in 1994, bringing together Prince Paul (The Undertaker) Frukwan (The Gatekeeper), Too Poetic (The Grym Reaper), and RZA (The Rzarector). The group's name stands for resurrecting the mentally dead from their state of unawareness and ignorance.

Here's what RZA had to say about the start of Gravediggaz. "When it came time for the Gravediggaz, Prince Paul was thinking about putting a group together. He wanted to get some good MCs. Poetic was another dope MC who was underrated out on Long Island. He had one single out on Tommy Boy that didn't take off, but he was a dope MC. As the Grym Reaper, you know how many dope lyrics he dropped. Frukwan, one of the top lyricists out of Stetsasonic. He and Paul were friends already. He told him about me. He said, "I know this one guy who is super-dope." At the same time, I was also trying to do Wu-Tang. I was trying to start my own company and stuff, so when Paul called me up and invited me to his crib on Long Island and told me his idea for forming this group, I thought it would be an honor to be in a group with him. But I told him, "I'm also producing a group, and I'm also part of a family that I'm building." He said, "Yo, that's crazy." We would talk a lot of times. ODB came to his house a lot of times with me. Meth, too. We all would just go there and try to find ways to get out of the streets. Me, I was trying to get out of the ghetto. Paul had a lot of respect for me, so he helped me break out of it. I think he liked that I was so dark, but I didn't know I was dark."

Lux Interior of The Cramps passed away today at age 62

Cramps frontman Lux Interior passed away today (Feb. 4th) at a Glendale, Calif., hospital due to a pre-existing heart condition, He was 52. The Cramps formed in 1976 and were part of the now legendary downtown New York punk scene. Their line-up shifted over the years but always included Lux and his wife, Poison Ivy. The band’s rockabilly infused punk has been credited as an influence by bands like the White Stripes and the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. Interior, whose real name was Erick Lee Purkhiser, was born October 21, 1946 in Ohio. He met Ivy in 1972 and started the band shortly thereafter.The Cramps released fourteen albums over the course of their career. Their latest, 2004’s “How To Make a Monster,” sold 11,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Their best-selling album, 1984’s “Bad Music for Bad People” has sold 95,000 copies. Without pooh this past week would have been much, much harder. Pooh picked up the wood for us in his truck, let us use his shop where he runs his surfboard making company to build the 8ft x 20ft wall, let us sleep at his house for two nights and picked us up and dropped us off at the trade show...oh yeah and he drove the painting back up to L.A. for us all while having the best attitude ever. If everyone was like pooh the world would be a better place...if you ever need a surfboard get in contact with us and we will get you in contact with Pooh. He is one of the best sharpers around, i used to watch him do it for years...thanks again for all you help pooh...love dethkills.

We spent the day before the trade show building and prepping the wall we painted on. That was the hardest part of the whole weekend and now that it was over we we're excited to start painting. With no expectations we started and i don't think people were really sure what was going on because we were just writing dethkills over and over again. They eventually started to figure out what was going on and began giving us props on what we were doing. The first day was all business until the show ended for the day. We went to see our good friends over at the Sezio/Jedidiah party to say hello. When we got there i was happy to see that their was live screen printing going on. That party was a good start to the night...i got to see a bunch of people i haven't seen in a loooooong time. Next stop was the Agenda party at the house of blues. I think i drank a little too much there because i kinda remember chris, derek and i getting kicked out of the taxi cab on our way back to poohs house and it was for sure my fault. I'm not gonna go into detail but i think it was pretty bad...vodka is no good in large quantities.

DAY 2

Day 2 started out a bit rough thanks to the Agenda party at the house of blues the night before so i took the morning to cruise around and check out some of the other brands. Two brands that stood out to me were Cardboard Robot and Insight. I like the way CB set their booth up. everything was made of cardboard, i guess that makes perfect sense. I am a huge fan of Insight. In my opinion I think that they have the best ad campaigns and their booth did not disappoint. As the day cruised on the open bar started to make everything alright and i got to see a bunch of old friends that i have not seen in awhile. The painting was coming along...people were digging it as more and more of the image revealed itself. When it was time to leave we packed up and were ready to head out to the motel 6 to chill....mason from cardboard robot and the founding father of clocky would not let us stay at the motel 6 so he helped us out getting a room at the Sophia hotel where we preceded to drink absinthe in the hotel bar...apparently they have quite a nice collection of it. With no plans in mind we ended up at a Rad Girls party and that is a whole other story...the video i took at the party should explain itself...look out for it soon.

DAY 3

The third and final day of agenda we were graced with the presence of Clocky as we finished up the painting. the whole trade show experience this time around was absolutely amassing. Going into it we had no idea what to expect and the response we received was unbelievable. Thank you to all the people that have supported us along the way and an extra special thanks to Aaron and Mike at Agenda for making this whole thing possible. This is only the beginning and we are excited about the future. Do you know what time it is? Clocky does.

I liked the print with the people dressed up and gnomes, not sure if you can see it in the pictures but it's pretty psyched out

On Tuesday, January 13th, a New Jersey couple were stripped custody of there 3 kids... no exact reason has been given as to why they were taken... but maybe... juuusst maybe it was because they named there kids all Nazi-inspired names. The eldest is 3 year old Adolf Hitler Campbell, he shares two younger sisters JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell, two and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell, 8 months.. Hinler sounds like Himmler who was the head of the SS under Hitler.
News of this first sprang when a month ago a bakery refused to put Adolf Hitler's name on a birthday cake for him. The couple was outraged saying "a name's a name" and insisting that there Adolf wasn't going to follow in the steps of the real Adolf... they claimed not to be racist but have tried to get a swastika in the past on a cake... hmmmmm... check out the clip below of the whole cake debacle.. which brought so much attention to everyone around and outrage... what do you think?

DETHKILLS HOST ON THE ROX

We hosted our first night on top of the Roxy at On The Rox on Sunset Blvd. The night featured music from Weight, Toy Robot, Biblical Proof of UFOs and Throwaway Gun. Having it been our first night doing this we had know idea what to expect and when over 130 people came out in support we were ready for a good time. The bands were on point and dj donna kept the party going in between sets and afterparty. If you missed this one be sure to come out to the next. Screen printing at our warehouse in preparation for the release of the "deth to false everything" zine issue 2. The zine is full of amasing artist from all over the country and the U.K. Make sure to keep your eyes open for it. We are only making 100. Along with the zine we made a print set of some drawing that we have done. The prints are in an edition of 25 consisting of 4 18x24 prints for only 100 bucks. I helped derek do some screen printing for his solo show at his studio in chinatown. Surprisingly it went really quick and was a lot easier than i thought it would be. Part of it was probably because Derek is a professional when it come to doing this kind of thing and had every part of the process covered. I had a lot of fun helping and picked up some tricks along the way.
